To my husband. Thirteen years ago on August 15, 1997, we were married. You were but a child but how beautiful you were and how beautiful you continue to be.
i carry your heart with me
e.e. cummings
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate, my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

beautiful Beth! Congratulations on your impending anniversary - 13 years is a lifetime these days. God bless you both.
Thank you, dear. In thirteen years I've only begun to plumb the depths of your brilliant and beautiful being. I'm certain a lifetime won't be enough, but it will be a start.
If you missed my tribute to Beth, you can read it here. Trust me, She-ra is alive and well in our newly established household of six.
Happy Anniversary! What a wonderful portrait of love you show us when we are able to peek into your lives through this blog. The posts I've read from Jared are just as loving as yours. May you have many more years together.
Many many years! You got married on new calendar Dormition! May the Mother of God always look after you all!
Oh my gosh, you all are killing me today with your sweetly fantastic Poetry Wednesday posts! Happy Anniversary to two of my very favorite people in the world! I can't begin to tell you how much I love that e.e cummings poem. We can't wait to celebrate with you on Sunday!
Please tell me about this portrait. It took my breath away...
Sorry for not giving credit where it is due. Forgot. Not sure what the title of the artwork is but it is a Marc Chagall. As most of you who are familiar with my poetry Wednesday postings know, his art is some of my favorite. And this one is particularly lovely.
