Everything But Your Love

"Empty Me Of Everything But Your Love"
Khwaja Abdullah Ansari
(1006-1088)

Lord, send me staggering with the wine
Of Your love!
Ring my feet
With the chains of Your slavery!
Empty me of everything but Your love
And in it destroy and resurrect me!
Any hunger You awaken
Can only end in Feast!

Beth, what is that painting? I am super intrigued by it! Beautiful poem!!! Just beautiful.

Actually, it's not a painting. It's a photograph of Beth and I dancing. I'm the one in the chicken suit.

Gorgeous, rapturous poem and painting--both perfect choices. Thank you.

Beth, this poem is also perfect for Bright Week! Beautiful. I hadn't read that Cummings poem for a number of years, and although I had two other poems picked out, I felt that Cummings really represented this warm Bright Week more than any others.

That photo of you and Jared dancing looks suspiciously like a Chagall.

We just read about Chagall - he painted people flying in the air to symbolize happiness and joy. So it is perfect for this poem, especially the last two lines. Beautiful!

Beth,

Beautiful! I especially love the line, "Any hunger you awaken can only end in feast."
